Hello, I’m Philip Hilton.
My life has been a long and sometimes unusual journey through spirituality, healing and personal discovery. Looking back, it really began when I was very young, although at the time I had no language for what I was experiencing.
Ouija board
The earliest experience happened to me when I was a baby, as a direct result of a Ouija board and ended with my family having to move house very quickly. You can read about this here.
As a child, I was extremely sensitive to spirits. I had encounters and perceptions that simply did not fit into the beliefs of my family or the everyday world around me. One of my earliest memories is spending hours in the Egyptian gallery of my local museum. While other children were running about outside, I felt completely at home among the statues and artefacts of Ancient Egypt. Even then, there was a sense of familiarity, as though something inside me recognised that world.
Declared dead
When I was eight years old, something happened that would shape the rest of my life. During a school swimming trip in 1971, I drowned and was declared clinically dead for nine minutes. I was eventually revived, but from that point onwards I was not quite the same.
In the weeks that followed, I began writing in mirror script. Everything I wrote appeared backwards and could only be read in a mirror. It lasted for several weeks and then, just as suddenly, stopped. What remained was a deep sense of having been changed. I became far more sensitive to energies and emotions around me, and I often felt like someone observing life from the outside rather than truly belonging within it. School was anything but easy, and my sensitivity made me an easy target for bullies, something I carried with me throughout those years.
An open door
When I was thirteen, someone gave me a book about the life of the Buddha. That single book opened a door for me. It introduced me to spiritual philosophy beyond the formal Anglican religion that was taught at school. From that moment, I became fascinated by mythology, spiritual traditions, and the mysterious side of life. I read everything I could find about the occult, folklore, ancient wisdom, and unexplained phenomena.
Protests
Like many people, I drifted away from those interests for a while as adulthood arrived. Life took over. Work, relationships, and everyday responsibilities filled the space where spiritual curiosity once lived.
I became involved in the resurgent counterculture movement that was spreading through parts of England in the early 1980s. It was a colourful and chaotic time. I joined protests such as the Save the Whale campaigns and the CND rallies, and somewhere along the way I learned to play guitar and joined a band.
Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll
For six years, I worked as a professional musician. It was exciting and often chaotic. Unfortunately, it was also a lifestyle filled with excess. Drugs, alcohol, and endless late nights became the norm, and before long I realised I was losing myself in it all. After six years, several band changes, and more lost weekends than I care to remember, I walked away from the music scene and began searching again for something more meaningful.
Spiritual seeker
During the late 1980s, I explored many religious traditions and philosophies, hoping to find some sense of inner peace. I was briefly part of a travelling stand-up comedy act, performing as one half of a comedy duo. Life certainly has a way of taking you on unexpected detours.
Over time, I gradually released habits that were no longer beneficial to me. I gave up hard drugs long before that, and eventually I also left alcohol behind, as well as cigarettes and became a vegetarian. None of these changes were easy, but they were important steps on my path.
Everything shifted again in 1993 when my psychic abilities opened more clearly. My partner at the time was deeply involved in spiritual practice and was an active member of the spiritualist church. They became an important teacher during this period of my life.
Development
I began reading Tarot and working with spirit more consciously. Within months, I was immersed in every form of spiritual development I could find.
It was also during this time that I began working professionally on psychic and Tarot telephone lines, offering readings and developing my abilities in mediumship and psychometry.
Witchy ways
Not long afterwards, I undertook a powerful personal initiation and formally dedicated myself to the path of witchcraft. The experience was profound. During the ritual, I felt the circle come alive around me and experienced a vision of the Lord and Lady, along with ancestral presences. It remains one of the most powerful spiritual moments of my life. Up to that moment, I had heard the term ‘circle spin’, but until then I had not realised that it was something that I could or would experience.
Sacred Pipe
Some years later, I also discovered shamanism, which added another dimension to my spiritual work. I also worked and was taught by a number of Native American and First Nations Medicine workers. I was also gifted the guardianship of a Sacred Pipe for my own personal use.
In 1998, I began channelling. At first, the messages came mainly from angelic sources and should form the basis of a spiritual teaching for the coming millennium. The channelling never truly stopped. Over the years, the material has grown and deepened, and the voices have expanded to include not only Archangels but also Ascended Masters, beings from the Faery realms and other light beings.
Walk-in
In 2002, during one of these channelling sessions, I received a message that I was a walk-in. For the first time, many of the feelings I had carried since childhood made sense. I had always felt slightly out of place in the world, as though I were watching life rather than fully taking part in it. Learning about this aspect of my spiritual identity helped me understand why.
The message explained that the soul currently guiding this life entered my body at the moment of my near-death experience in 1971 through a soul agreement. The consciousness that stepped in carries connections to the Pleiadian star system and works under the guidance of Archangel Michael. In that context, I was given the name Paxus.
My work, as I understand it, is to assist with healing, not only for individuals but also for animals, the natural world, and the energetic balance of the planet itself.
A shared path of love and spirituality
Another deeply important part of my life began in 2002 when I met Raine. We had crossed paths before through spiritual development groups, which we both ran. We then began working together more closely. It quickly became clear that something unusual connected us. We discovered that we were twin flames, which began what we often describe as our roller-coaster journey.
Despite many obstacles and difficult choices at the time, we eventually chose to build a life together. We have now shared that life for over twenty years and remain deeply connected in both love and spiritual work. We work together, play together and support one another, enjoying the life we have manifested.
There is a small piece of poetic symmetry in that story. Twenty years before meeting Raine, I had written a romantic poem called My English Rose, describing the ideal partner I hoped to meet one day. Raine’s online name at the time we met just happened to be English Rose.
The universe has a sense of humour.
The road less travelled
Another powerful turning point came in 2004 when I had what could only be described as a Damascene moment. During what began as an ordinary shopping trip, I felt drawn into a cathedral and found myself kneeling before a cross in a profound spiritual experience. For a short time, I seriously considered entering the Anglican priesthood. Although I ultimately chose a different path, my pagan roots run too deep; the experience left a deep and lasting impression on my spiritual understanding.
Druid
In 2008, I formally became a Druid and am now an Ovate within the Order of Bards, Druids and Ovates. Around the same time, I discovered Kabbalah, which has been profoundly influential in my life and spiritual work.
Today my practice blends many traditions. I work within what is often called Druidcraft, a natural meeting point between Druidry and Wicca. I am also a Faery Priest of Avalon, initiated through the Nine Sisters of Avalon and a follower of Elen, the sacred pathfinder. Also, Ancient Egypt never left me, and I work with Egyptian energies, which form a large part of my healing work.
For many years I searched for the perfect spiritual path, believing it must exist somewhere outside of myself. Eventually, I realised something far simpler and far more liberating. I am the path. There is a saying in yoga, ‘The longest stretch is inward.’
Spiritual work is not about fitting into a single label or tradition. It is about service, growth, and authenticity. Because of that, you will find me working across many spiritual traditions and using techniques and practices from around the world.
Here is an expanded version that keeps the personal element while making the message warm, inclusive and appropriate as the closing statement of an About Me page:
A safe space for everyone
At the heart of my work is a simple intention: to help others find greater clarity, healing and connection as they walk their own unique path through life.
I believe that every person has their own story, experiences, beliefs and way of seeing the world. There is no single path that is right for everyone, and my role is not to tell you who you should be or what you should believe. Instead, I offer a safe, compassionate and welcoming space in which you can explore, reflect, reconnect with yourself and discover what feels meaningful to you.
Inclusivity is not simply something I believe in; it is something I strive to put into practice. I welcome everyone, regardless of background, identity, culture, beliefs, spirituality, sexuality, gender, age or life experience. You do not have to fit into a particular box, follow a particular tradition or share my beliefs in order to feel welcome here.
As a member of the queer community myself, I understand the importance of having spaces where you can arrive exactly as you are, without judgement, prejudice or the expectation that you need to explain or justify yourself. That experience has strengthened my belief that kindness, acceptance, compassion and respect should be at the centre of spiritual practice.
Whether you are experienced in spiritual work or taking your very first steps, you are welcome here. Whether you come with certainty, questions, curiosity or simply a feeling that something within you is calling for attention, there is space for you.
I hope that every person who comes onto these webpages feels seen, respected and accepted, and leaves with something that supports them on their journey.
You are welcome here, exactly as you are. You are perfect and unique.
