Conjure Ancestor Session

Honouring those who came before. Connecting with ancestral wisdom.

Our ancestors are part of the story that brought us here.

For many spiritual traditions, including Conjure and Hoodoo and Voudou, ancestral relationships can hold an important place within spiritual practice. Ancestor work is concerned with honouring those who came before us, developing respectful spiritual relationships and creating space for ancestral wisdom and guidance.

My Ancestor Work sessions offer a respectful opportunity to explore your own relationship with your ancestors and the place they may hold within your spiritual life.

What is ancestor work?

Ancestor work can take many forms.

For some people, it is about reconnecting with their family history and remembering those who have passed away. For others, it is a more deeply spiritual practice involving prayer, remembrance, offerings, ancestral altars and seeking guidance.

You do not need to know the names of generations of ancestors to begin. Ancestor work can start simply with an intention to acknowledge those who came before you and to create a respectful relationship with your ancestral lineage.

It can be a deeply personal journey.

Why work with your ancestors?

You may feel drawn towards ancestor work because you have always sensed a connection with those who came before you.

Perhaps you are:

  • Interested in developing an ancestral spiritual practice
  • Seeking a stronger connection with your family lineage
  • Wanting to honour deceased family members
  • Exploring your ancestral heritage
  • Going through a significant transition in your life
  • Looking for spiritual guidance and wisdom
  • Creating an ancestral altar
  • Feeling drawn towards traditional ancestor practices
  • Wanting to understand how ancestors may form part of your spiritual path

Ancestor work can also provide an opportunity to remember that we are part of something much larger than our individual lives.

My Conjure and Hoodoo training

My approach to ancestor work is informed by extensive study and training in Conjure and Hoodoo, including completing numerous courses through Crossroads University under expert practitioner and best-selling author Denise Alvarado.

Ancestor reverence is an important aspect of many spiritual traditions, but practices differ considerably between cultures and traditions.

I therefore approach this work from the traditions in which I have actually studied, rather than creating a mixture of unrelated practices and presenting them as one system.

My aim is to offer respectful, informed spiritual guidance while allowing you to develop a relationship with your own ancestral heritage in a way that feels meaningful to you.

Ancestral connection

Ancestor work does not have to be complicated. It might begin with remembering a particular relative who has passed away, lighting a candle, offering a prayer or simply creating a quiet space in which to remember.

Over time, some people choose to establish a dedicated ancestral space or altar. Others may wish to explore whether ancestral guidance can become part of their wider spiritual practice.

A session can help you understand how to approach this respectfully and how to establish practices that feel appropriate for you.

Ancestral guidance

Some people come to ancestor work because they are looking for guidance during a particular period of their lives.

A relationship, career decision, major change or personal crossroads may prompt the desire to seek wisdom from those who came before.

An ancestor session can provide a spiritual space for reflection, connection and guidance.

I do not claim that every experience of intuition, memory or spiritual connection necessarily comes from an ancestor. Instead, I encourage an open but grounded approach, allowing the experience to unfold without forcing an interpretation.

Creating an ancestral altar

An ancestral altar can become a meaningful focal point for remembrance and spiritual practice.

Depending upon your circumstances and traditions, an altar might include photographs, names, meaningful objects, candles, flowers, water or other appropriate offerings.

If you would like to establish an ancestral altar but are unsure where to begin, we can explore this together.

The intention is not to create an elaborate display. It is to create a respectful place of remembrance and connection.

 Healing the relationship with ancestry

Not everyone’s relationship with their family history is straightforward. Some people come from loving and supportive families, while others carry difficult memories, complicated relationships or painful family histories.

Ancestral work does not require you to idealise your ancestors or pretend that harmful behaviour did not happen. You are not required to honour someone simply because they are related to you.

Ancestral work can also involve recognising difficult aspects of family history, establishing healthy boundaries and choosing what you wish to carry forward and what you choose to leave behind.

Your ancestry may be part of your story, but it does not have to determine your future. Ancestors can be of blood or not; we can also include those we consider part of our line.

Distance ancestor work

My ancestor work is available as a distant spiritual service, so you do not need to travel to me.

Before undertaking a session, I will ask you to share what has brought you to ancestor work and what you hope to explore.

The work may involve spiritual guidance, prayer, ancestral connection, ritual or other appropriate practices according to the nature of the session.

A relationship built with respect

Ancestor work is not about demanding answers from the past. It is about listening. It is about remembrance, respect and recognising the generations that came before us.

Whether you are beginning your ancestral journey for the first time or already maintain an ancestral spiritual practice, a session can provide a space to deepen that connection.

Remember where you came from. Honour what came before. Choose what you carry forward.

If you feel drawn towards exploring ancestor work, contact me at hiltonphilip85@gmail.com to discuss your circumstances and what you would like to explore and to book your session. The price is £69.

Justified

All work carried out is justified – This means that I will not undertake anything negative or harmful. I do not work against people under any circumstances, and all work undertaken will be for the greater good of all concerned. True justice must always be served.
