Alongside my work in shamanic healing, Egyptian spiritual practices and other traditional spiritual systems, I also offer spiritual work informed by Conjure, Hoodoo and New Orleans Voudou.
These are rich and often misunderstood traditions, with deep histories, distinct practices and their own spiritual frameworks. My approach is therefore one of respect, experience and careful practice, rather than treating these traditions as simply another form of generic modern spirituality.
My work in this area has developed through dedicated study and training, including extensive coursework with author and expert Mama D (Denise Alvarado) at Crossroads University, together with further study and practical experience in Conjure, Hoodoo and New Orleans Voudou.
I have developed considerable knowledge in this area, and I am pleased to offer appropriate spiritual services for those who feel drawn to this work.
What are Conjure, Hoodoo and Voudou?
Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, they are not simply different names for the same thing.
Conjure is a broad term associated with spiritual and magical practices, particularly within African American folk traditions. It can encompass work with herbs, roots, spiritual supplies, prayer, petition, protection, cleansing, divination and other forms of practical spirituality.
Hoodoo is a distinct African American spiritual and magical tradition, shaped by African, Indigenous, European and Christian influences. It has its own history, methods and practices, including spiritual cleansing, protection, prosperity work, uncrossing, blessing and other forms of practical spiritual work.
New Orleans Voudou has its own particular history and spiritual character, developing within the unique cultural environment of New Orleans. It includes relationships with spirits, ancestors, saints, lwa and other spiritual forces, together with ritual, prayer, offerings and other forms of spiritual practice.
Understanding these distinctions matters.
I do not present them as interchangeable labels, nor do I claim to represent every lineage, house or practitioner within these traditions. Instead, I draw upon the areas in which I have undertaken specific study and training, approaching the work with the respect it deserves.
My approach
My spiritual practice has always involved learning from established traditions rather than attempting to create a superficial mixture of unrelated systems.
This is equally important when working with Conjure, Hoodoo and Voudou.
I approach each session individually. The work is not about applying a standard ritual to every situation. Instead, I first consider what you are seeking, what the circumstances are and what form of spiritual work may be appropriate.
Where appropriate, this may involve spiritual cleansing, protection, blessing, prosperity work, uncrossing, spiritual guidance, ancestor work or other traditional forms of spiritual practice.
Spiritual work with purpose
Conjure and Hoodoo have historically been particularly practical traditions. They are concerned not only with spiritual understanding, but with the circumstances of everyday life.
People may seek this type of work when they feel they need:
- Spiritual cleansing and purification
- Protection from unwanted influences
- Help when life feels spiritually blocked or unsettled
- Prosperity and abundance work
- Blessing and positive spiritual influence
- Uncrossing and removal of unwanted spiritual conditions
- Spiritual strengthening
- Ancestor-focused work
- Guidance through difficult circumstances
- Support when beginning a new chapter in life
- A deeper connection with traditional spiritual practice
Not every situation requires the same approach, and sometimes the most appropriate response is simply to provide spiritual guidance rather than undertake ritual work.
Respecting the traditions
There is an important difference between **working respectfully with a tradition** and presenting oneself as an authority over an entire culture or lineage.
I am not here to claim ownership of these traditions, nor to suggest that my experience represents every Hoodoo practitioner, Conjure worker or Voudou house.
These traditions have histories that deserve to be acknowledged.
I intend to work within the areas in which I have studied, trained and developed experience, while continuing to approach the traditions themselves with humility and respect.
This is the same principle that guides my work with other spiritual systems.
My shamanic work is informed by my training in core shamanism and my studies with experienced teachers. My Egyptian spiritual work draws upon extensive study of Egyptian spirituality, healing and magick. Likewise, my Conjure, Hoodoo and Voudou work is grounded in specific study and training rather than simply adopting names or practices because they appear interesting or fashionable.
A natural part of my wider spiritual practice
For me, spiritual traditions do not need to compete with one another.
My work has taken me into many different areas of spirituality over the years, from shamanic healing and soul retrieval to Egyptian spiritual practices, energy healing, Celtic spirituality and other traditional systems. Each has its own character.
I do not believe that everything needs to be blended together to make it meaningful. Sometimes the most respectful thing we can do is allow a tradition to stand in its own integrity.
That is the approach I bring to Conjure, Hoodoo and New Orleans Voudou.
Distance spiritual work
My spiritual services are offered remotely, allowing us to work together regardless of where you live.
Distance work does not mean that the spiritual work is somehow lesser or diluted. Many traditional spiritual practices have never depended upon physical proximity in the way that modern assumptions sometimes suggest.
Your circumstances, intentions and needs are discussed confidentially before any work is undertaken, allowing me to establish what type of spiritual support may be appropriate.
If you are unsure whether Conjure, Hoodoo or Voudou work is right for your situation, please feel free to contact me first.
There is no expectation that you need to know the terminology or understand the traditions before making contact.
Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.
Experienced. Respectful. Spiritually grounded. With many years of experience working across traditional and contemporary spiritual practices, I offer Conjure, Hoodoo and Voudou services as part of a wider spiritual practice rooted in study, experience, respect and personal integrity.
If you feel drawn to this work, I invite you to get in touch and tell me, in confidence, what you are looking for. Traditional spiritual practice, approached with respect.
Fee: £69. 15% discount for 4 or more sessions.
